Hazard keen to challenge for Premier League title at Chelsea

Eden Hazard has said he wants to help Chelsea to a season even better than the one just ended, despite the club winning the FA Cup and the Champions League, by returning the Premier League title to Stamford Bridge, Press Association has reported.

Hazard finally completed his £32m move from Lille on Monday having already announced on his Twitter page that he was bound for west London. The Belgium international chose Chelsea over Manchester United and Manchester City, who had also been in the frame for his signature, and agreed a five-year, £170,000 per week contract with the Blues to become the club’s second summer signing, after Germany midfielder Marko Marin.

The 21-year-old categorised Chelsea’s 2011-12 campaign as a success but added he felt the club could perform to an even higher level in the future, pointing to the disappointment of finishing sixth in the Premier League as evidence there is room for improvement. He said: “Chelsea had a great season, even if we didn’t do very well in the league. By anybody’s standards, winning two cups is a great achievement, so it will be a big challenge to do better.

We’re equipped to do that (perform better), and all I can hope is that, while I’m here, we can win a lot of trophies. That’s what I’m aiming for.
