Manchester City’s Serbia international defender Aleksandar Kolarov is ready to quit the Premier League champions in search of more regular first team football, the
Kolarov spent last season competing with former Arsenal defender Gael Clichy to be Roberto Mancini’s first-choice left-back, a battle the France international won more often than not. Kolarov made just a dozen league appearances for City and admitted that while he is happy with life at the Etihad Stadium, he has spoken with his agent about his options if he cannot dislodge Clichy from the side.
“I am in constant contact with my agent, so we will soon see what happens,” Kolarov said, adding: “I am very happy here, but my goal is to play with greater regularity. I said it to Mancini.”
The Mail added that City were likely to reject a loan offer for Kolarov from Juventus, with the Serie A champions’ rivals Inter expected to make a permanent offer for the former Lazio player. Kolarov left the Rome side for City in 2010 and has made 64 appearances for the club, scoring seven times. Last season Kolarov made a combined 27 appearances in all competitions, getting on the score sheet on four occasions.
