Liverpool could complete the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson as early as this week, the
Terms have still to be agreed between the player and the club and a medical would also be required but Sigurdsson is apparently ready to leave Hoffenheim for a permanent move to Merseyside.
Sigurdsson spent the latter half of last season on loan at Swansea City under Rodgers, scoring seven goals in 19 games, and vowed to speak with the club’s new manager about his future once he was appointed. Michael Laudrup was confirmed as Rodgers’ replacement late last week and Sigurdsson is expected to keep his word and have a conversation with Laudrup before committing to Liverpool.
If the move does go ahead Liverpool are likely to pay in the region of £8m, slightly more than the fee Swansea had previously agreed for the 22-year-old, after the Welsh side negotiated a discount upon taking Sigurdsson on loan in January.
