Liverpool have entered the race to sign former Chelsea player, Salomon Kalou. According to the Metro,
Confirmation of Liverpool’s interest has come from Schalke boss, Huub Stevens, who has said: “Liverpool are in the market for him, but I know he wants to leave England. That can be an advantage for us”. This coming amid reports that Schalke have turned their attention to the Ivorian after seeing their interest in Rafael van der Vaar thwarted by a high price tag.
In six seasons at Stamford Bridge, the 26-year-old managed a total of 52 goals in 151 games. But most of his appearances were from the substitutes bench, coming on 107 times and only starting 44 matches.
Joe Cole was the last player to swap Chelsea for Liverpool but if Kalou was to do the same he would hope for a better time at Anfield – Cole was loaned out after one season in which he only made 9 league starts.
Kalou is available on a free transfer after failing to agree a deal with the European Champions.
