Liverpool turn to Wigan forward Moses

Liverpool hope to make Wigan Athletic forward Victor Moses their first signing of the summer after apparently missing out on Iceland midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson to Tottenham Hotspur, the Daily Mail has reported.

Moses, 21, has already been the subject of a £4m offer from Chelsea this summer but with Sigurdsson appearing to favour a move to White Hart Lane over the chance to follow Brendan Rodgers to Anfield, Rodgers is ready to enter the bidding for the Nigerian attacker.

The Wigan player has a year remaining on his contract but despite that Latics owner Dave Whelan is said to be holding out for around £8m but he acquiesces to letting Moses leave, as 20% of any transfer fee received for Moses is due to his former club Crystal Palace.

Moses has been at Wigan since January 2010 and last season scored six goals in 38 games, missing only one league game in the process. Moses has in total netted nine goals in 78 Wigan appearances, with last season by far his most prolific in the Premier League.
