Manchester City will look to build on their first Premier League title win this summer by swooping for Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder, a long-term target of Manchester United, the
United were said to be pursuing Sneijder a year ago but the Netherlands midfielder chose to remain in Italy, with Sir Alex Ferguson eventually forced to look elsewhere. But City are ready to offer Sneijder the chance to play for the other team in Manchester, with the Mail claiming Roberto Mancini is keen to make an impression on next year’s Champions League, to which Sneijder could be key as a former winner of the competition with his current employers. However, a move for the 27-year-old would have to wait until after Euro 2012.
Sneijder has been with Inter since 2009, moving to the San Siro after two years in Spain with Real Madrid. A graduate of the Ajax academy, Sneijder has more than 80 international caps to his name and played in the 2010 World Cup final.
