Man Utd agree Henriquez deal

Manchester United will sign 18-year-old Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez in a £3m transfer, the Daily Mirror has reported. If the player is not granted a work permit, however, he will have to be loaned out elsewhere for the foreseeable future.

Sir Alex Ferguson moved for the youngster, pictured above in blue, after he scored eight goals in 10 first team appearances, as well as impressing at the various youth levels for club and country before making his senior bow.

The Mirror adds that there was interest in Henriquez, described as “strong and skilful”, from across the world, but United have held a long-term interest in his signature which convinced Henriquez to accept the offer from Old Trafford.

Ordinarily Henriquez would not be eligible for a work permit as he has not played a high enough percentage of games for his national team, but United can argue that he is a special case because of his talent. But if that argument falls on deaf ears Henriquez will have to be loaned out somewhere on the continent were the work permit regulations are less prohibitive.
