Milan eye Liverpool ‘keeper Reina

AC Milan are lining up a surprise bid for Liverpool and Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The Daily Mail have reported that after losing the title to Juventus last season, Milan are looking to improve the defensive side of their game – already rejecting a £37-million bid for centre back Thiago Silva from PSG this summer – and the Spanish keeper is an addition that would do just that.

It is thought that the Milan boss, Massimiliano Allegri, isn’t pleased with the performances from current first choice, Christian Abbiati. The Italian goalkeeper turns 35 this summer and Allegri feel it is time to replace him with a younger, more efficient goalkeeper.

Reina has spent close to seven years at Anfield and in that time has constantly been at the top of the goalkeeping charts. In his first three years in the Premier League he won the Golden Glove for most clean sheets in a season. The 29-year-old also has the most appearances by a Spanish player with 254 games under his belt.
