Arsenal look set to complete a deal in the region of £13 million for Montpellier striker, Olivier Giroud.
“Discussions are happening and going well, as part of the clause set. Things are moving serenely,” he told French newspaper Midi Libre.
This deal would make Giroud the second summer signing for Arsene Wenger, adding to the deal bringing Lucas Podolski to the Emirates from Germany. But the arrival of the 25-year-old is likely to signal the end of at least one striker’s time at Arsenal.
The club already has several attacking options so fringe players like Marouane Chamakh and Ju-Young Park may struggle for first team action next season along with the returning Carlos Vela and Niklas Bendtner – both have been on loan at Real Sociedad and Sunderland respectively.
