Everton manager David Moyes, Wigan Athletic’s Roberto Martinez and former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas are amongst the contenders to replace Harry Redknapp at Tottenham Hotspur, according to Yahoo
Redknapp left White Hart Lane earlier this week and Moyes was immediately installed as the early favourite, but Martinez, who was wanted by both Liverpool and Aston Villa earlier this summer, and Villas-Boas, sacked by Chelsea in March, are also possibilities. Former England Head Coach Fabio Capello is also thought to be on Spurs’ shortlist.
Moyes has been at Everton since 2002 and last season took the Toffees to seventh in the table, despite consistently operating on a shoestring budget. Martinez barely escaped relegation with Wigan but won plaudits for his side’s enterprising football and some startling late season results, including victories over Manchester United and Arsenal.
Meanwhile, both Villas-Boas and Capello are currently out of work, removing the obstacle of compensation, but represent different ends of the experience spectrum – Villas-Boas is 34 and failed to complete the season at Stamford Bridge, while Capello is 65 but has never managed at club level in the Premier League.
