Real Madrid interested in Howedes

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Schalke 04 defender Benedikt Howedes, with Jose Mourinho keen to add the right sided player according to MundoDeportivo.

For the past few weeks there have been many transfer rumours regarding the right-back position at the Bernabeu – with names such as Maicon and Mathieu Debuchy being linked to the La Liga champions however according to MundoDeportivo and Fichajes.com, the German Howedes could be set to link up with national team-mates Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira in the summer.

Twenty-Four year old Howedes has travelled with the Germany squad to Euro 2012 however coach Joachim Loew seems to prefer Jerome Boateng in that role, though that has seemingly not deterred Jose Mourinho.

Howedes has two-years left on a six-year-deal signed in 2008 though any reported interested from Real Madrid is sure to have the defender thinking, with the Schalke player impressing this year in the Bundesliga – it will be intriguing whether this move happens.
