Van Persie expected on Arsenal pre-season tour

Arsenal captain Robin van Persie is scheduled to go on the Gunners’ pre-season tour of Asia as Arsene Wenger confirms his stance that the Netherlands international will not be sold this summer, the Daily Mail has reported.

Van Persie’s participation in the tour of Malaysia, China and Hong Kong was originally in doubt because of the Netherlands presence in Euro 2012, as, if the team had progressed to the latter stages of the tournament, van Persie would have been granted an extended holiday in which to recover. But with Holland exiting the competition at the group stage, van Persie will be back in training in time to travel with the squad.

Arsenal will meet a Malaysia XI in their first friendly of the tour, with a match against one of van Persie’s suitors, Manchester City, to be played in Beijing, while the third and final fixture of the trip comes against Kitchee in Hong Kong.
