Arsenal bid for Niang against interest from Tottenham and Man City

Arsenal have moved to sure up their interest in teenage striker M’baye Niang by offering Caen £5m to sign the trialist on a permanent basis, as Arsene Wenger attempts to fend off interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, the Daily Mail has reported.

Niang has been training with the Gunners for a spell during pre-season and has apparently impressed Wenger to the point of tempting the manager to part with £5m for the 17-year-old. North London rivals Tottenham and Premier League champions Manchester City are also said to be lurking, however, ready and willing to sweep Niang out of Wenger’s grasp.

Caen are said to be realistic over their chances of keeping Niang at the club after their relegation from the top flight of France, Ligue 1, with the youngster attracting attention from across Europe. His week-long trial at Arsenal is thought to have gone well but Niang’s availability is no secret, encouraging City and Spurs into an offer for the French youth international.
