Arsenal take France prodigy Niang on trial

Arsenal have taken on trial 17-year-old M’Baye Niang, the Cannes striker believed to be one of the most talented youngsters in France, the Metro has reported.

Niang is to spend a week training under the watchful eye of Arsene Wenger with a possible £5m move to follow if the manager is suitably impressed. Niang, despite his tender years, was first given a taste of senior football in the 2010-11 season and has scored five goals in his 30 Cannes appearances since making his debut.

The Metro adds that Niang has a long and growing list of suitors, including Juventus, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, but it is the Gunners who have moved quickest by bringing the France youth international to England to get a closer look.

Niang’s current club Cannes, relegated from the French top flight last season, are believed to value the prodigy at closer to £9m than the mooted £5m, but the club’s Coach, Patrice Garande, believes Niang would be best served staying put for the time being.
