Arsenal could move to sign Wigan Athletic forward Victor Moses from under the noses of Premier League rivals Chelsea if the Gunners’ England international winger Theo Walcott baulks at signing a new contract with the club, the
Chelsea have had an offer worth £4m turned down by Latics chairman Dave Whelan but Arsenal are said to be monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation in case talks with Walcott over an extended deal break down. Walcott’s current contract expires next summer and a new one has yet to be agreed, with the Mail adding Walcott is thought to be unhappy with the wages on the table. His discontent is said to have alerted Chelsea.
If Walcott were to move on and Arsenal targeted Moses, Whelan insists they and any other suitor would have to pay closer to £10m for the Nigerian, despite Moses’ contract also only having 12 months to run.
