New Liverpool signing Fabio Borini has revealed his excitement at returning to English football after completing his move to the Premier League from Serie A side Roma, the
Borini will link-up with his former Chelsea reserve team manager and Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers after the 21-year-old agreed terms with Liverpool and completed a medical at the club’s training ground. Borini scored six goals in 12 games for Swansea during the season in which they were promoted to the Premier League under Rodgers, but chose to return to Italy with Parma rather than switch to the Welsh side on a full-time basis.
Rodgers however has gotten his man now, with Borini becoming the manager’s first signing since replacing Kenny Dalglish in the Anfield dugout. Borini pointed to his existing familiarity with the style and formation Rodgers prefers and will attempt to impose on Liverpool as a strong deciding factor in persuading him to move to Merseyside.
Borini said: “I’ve got the trust of the manager and the club, which for me is very nice and I’m proud to be here. He was very important. I wouldn’t say it was the key, but most of it came from him. I used to play 4-3-3 with him and he is very good to play football for.”
