Chelsea draw with Paris Saint-Germain

Chelsea have continued their pre-season preparations with as 1-1 draw with Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in a match played at New York’s Yankee Stadium, the Guardian has reported.

It was the first football match played at the new Yankee Stadium, which opened in 2009, and the first at any incarnation of the iconic arena for almost 40 years. A crowd of just over 38,000 was in attendance to see the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Eden Hazard feature for Chelsea, while PSG included Javier Pastore and summer signing Ezequiel Lavezzi in their line-up.

PSG opened the scoring when Pastore evaded the close marking of the Chelsea defence and struck a shot towards goal. The ball cannoned back off the woodwork and with goalkeeper Petr Cech stranded, Brazilian midfielder Nene converted via the legs of David Luiz.

Chelsea equalised late on through their own Brazilian midfielder, Lucas Piazon, who was teed up by compatriot Ramires. Florent Malouda came close to winning the match for the Premier League side but saw his late snap shot saved.
