Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has claimed the Latics have rejected a third bid from Chelsea for forward Victor Moses, according to Sky
Wigan initially turned down an offer in the region of £3.5m with reports claiming the latest figure on the table from the Champions League winners is closer to £5m. Whelan however insists Chelsea are still nowhere near to meeting his valuation of Moses, despite the 21-year-old entering the final year of his contract.
Moses, as it stands, would be free to leave the DW Stadium next summer, with Wigan only receiving compensation if the Nigerian chose to move on. Whelan added that he hopes Moses signs a new contract to stay at the club, strongly believing it is in the best interests of the former Crystal Palace player to do so.
Whelan revealed that Wigan will continue to listen to offers from parties interested in Moses but advised Moses to remain at the club for a while longer to learn from manager Roberto Martinez.
