Chelsea to beat Tottenham to Oscar signing

Chelsea could get one over their old manager Andre Villas-Boas by beating Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Brazilian youngster Oscar, the Daily Telegraph has reported. The newspaper puts the fee for the midfielder at £22m.

Spurs had looked like stealing a march on a number of European clubs by snapping up the 20-year-old from Internacional but Chelsea are now expected to trump their London rivals and add Oscar to the Brazilian contingent at Stamford Bridge, despite Villas-Boas considering Oscar as an important part of his plans at White Hart Lane.

Oscar would join David Luiz, Ramires and Lucas Piazon in Chelsea colours. The former Sao Paulo player has six Brazil caps to his name and is in the squad to compete in this year’s London Olympics. Oscar has made 84 appearances for his current club, scoring 19 goals and helping Internacional to victory in their state championship in 2011 and 2012.
