The Intenacional president, Giovanni Lugi, has admitted he is willing to sell the 20-year-old midfielder, but he will only do so if Chelsea can match his substantial demands. Lugi said: “I want the transfer of Oscar to be the biggest transfer deal ever in Brazilian football. And the Chelsea offer isn’t that far from that.”
Lugi also pointed to Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in striker Leandro Damiao as evidence that the deal is not guaranteed to happen, claiming it was important that Damiao remained with his current club and adding that he viewed Oscar in a similar manner.
A fee of £25m has been mooted for the young Brazil international, who has six senior appearances to his name and is included in the Selecao squad to compete at the London Olympics. Since making his Internacional debut in 2010 Oscar has made 70 appearances, scoring 19 goals.
