Chelsea up offer for Wigan’s Moses

Chelsea have made another offer for Wigan Athletic winger Victor Moses, the London Evening Standard has reported, after seeing their first few bids turned down by Latics chairman Dave Whelan after they fell short of his valuation of the player.

The latest offer, said to be the fourth Chelsea have made in their pursuit of the Nigerian, is worth up to £9m – still slightly short of the £10m Whelan claimed Moses was worth. The offer is thought to be £6m up front and the rest dependent on appearances, goals and other bonuses. Wigan earlier rejected a bid that included the option of taking either midfielder Josh McEachran or Romelu Lukaku on loan.

Moses, 21, is entering the final year of his Wigan contract and is thought to appeal to Chelsea in part because he would qualify as a home grown player in the Champions League, but Whelan is standing firm in his stance and will not let the former Crystal Palace player leave cheaply.
