Tim Cahill’s eight-year Everton career looks to be at an end as the club have announced a deal has been reached with MLS side New York Red Bulls for the transfer of the Australia international, Everton’s official
Cahill moved to Everton in the summer of 2004, bought from Millwall months after playing in the FA Cup final for the London side. 278 appearances and 68 goals later Cahill is set to cross the Atlantic Ocean for a nominal fee, but the 32-year-old has yet to agree personal terms or pass a medical with his potential new employers.
The midfielder, who has 24 goals in 55 international games, struggled to hit the back of the net last season, at one point going over a calendar year without scoring, but he eventually rediscovered his taste for goals and ended the campaign with three efforts to his name. Cahill’s last Everton goal looks to have been the fourth in a 4-0 win over Fulham at Goodison Park in April.
