Everton and Tottenham remain in talks for Pienaar

Steven Pienaar’s proposed return to Everton from Tottenham Hotspur has not yet come to pass as the club’s remain in negotiations for the South Africa midfielder, the Liverpool Daily Post has reported.

Pienaar spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton, the club he left in January 2011 to move to Tottenham. But after failing to get regular first team football at White Hart Lane a temporary return to Goodison Park was arranged, with Pienaar immediately settling into life at his old home and helping Everton to a strong finish in the Premier League.

All parties appear willing to make Pienaar’s return a full-time one but the two clubs have not yet worked out the details of the deal. Tottenham Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed he will let Pienaar head back to Merseyside but a fee has not yet been agreed by Spurs chief executive Daniel Levy and his Everton counterpart Robert Elstone.
