Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed he has forgotten all about Manchester City’s Premier League title success last season and is instead concentrating on returning the trophy to Old Trafford, the
United were beaten to the title by the smallest of margins, finishing level on points with City but Roberto Mancini’s side edged the fight by an eight-goal difference. The final day of the season saw the advantage see-saw, however, as United’s 1-0 win away to Sunderland gave them the title for much of the afternoon as City gave up a lead against Queens Park Rangers, only for City to score twice late in the match to clinch their first league crown in more than 40 years.
Ferdinand, who was left out of the England squad for Euro 2012, has already won five Premier League titles in his time at United. The 33-year-old has recently marked a decade at the club and said: “The way the season ended the quicker and sooner we can get back into it the better.”
