Henry interested in Arsenal coaching role

Thierry Henry has admitted that he would like to return to Arsenal as a coach once his playing days are over, but the legendary France striker added he has not yet discussed the idea with Arsene Wenger, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

The 35-year-old first wants to focus on his last years as a player with New York Red Bulls but acknowledged that when he calls it a day a place on Wenger’s backroom staff would be an intriguing prospect.

Eventually I’d like to go back to Arsenal,” Henry said, adding: “I don’t know how, it depends. I just want to finish my career (first). Coaching does interest me but I really don’t think about it right now.

Henry added that he does not expect to go on loan with the Gunners for a second time. The two-time Premier League winner spent six weeks with Arsenal in the last campaign during the off-season of MLS. Henry noted that he only returned to the club to train at first but when Arsenal lost a couple of strikers to the Africa Cup of Nations the club asked if he would be willing to play.
