Liverpool agree fee for Borini

Fabio Borini appears to have moved a step closer to becoming a Liverpool player and the first signing of the Brendan Rodgers era after the club agreed a fee with Roma for the Italy international, the Daily Mirror has reported.

The newspaper believes it will take £12m to bring Borini to the Premier League and re-unite him with Rodgers, after the pair were together at first Chelsea and then Swansea City. Rodgers was a youth coach and later reserve team manager when Borini was a young prospect at Stamford Bridge, with Rodgers signing Borini on loan for Swansea City following his departure from the Blues.

In his time in Wales Borini scored six goals in nine league games to push Swansea into the Premier League, but turned the forward turned down the chance to stay at the Liberty Stadium in favour of a free transfer move to Parma last summer.
