Liverpool move for Roma forward Borini

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to complete his first signing since replacing Kenny Dalglish earlier this summer by moving for Roma’s former Chelsea and Swansea City forward Fabio Borini, the BBC has reported.

Rodgers knows Borini from his time at both of the Italian’s former clubs, having been the reserve team manager at Stamford Bridge and then taking Borini on loan while in charge of Swansea. Borini moved to the Welsh side late in the season and pushed them up from the Championship but rejected a permanent move to the club in favour of a return to Italy with Parma.

Borini has since become a Roma player but a fee of £8m is believed to be enough to bring the 21-year-old back to English football. In his past career under Rodgers at Swansea Borini scored six goals in only nine games. Borini is also an Italy international and was part of the Azzurri squad that finished runners-up to Spain at Euro 2012.
