Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is close to the signing of his second player of the summer, with Fabio Borini expected to be joined by Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen, the
A fee of £15m has been suggested but the sum is complicated by a clause in Allen’s contract, as well as the agreement between the sides that former Swansea boss Rodgers would not move for a player at his old club unless another club made an offer first.
Allen’s contract states that if one of five clubs – Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal or Chelsea – wants to sign Allen, they must pay £15m.
