Man City make Mancini Premier League’s highest-paid boss

Roberto Mancini’s new Manchester City contract has seen the Premier League winner become the division’s highest-paid manager, leapfrogging Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Mancini signed a new five-year deal with City earlier this week, believed to be worth £37.5m over the length of the contract or £7.5m per season. The announcement also puts paid to rumours linking the former Inter, Lazio and Fiorentina boss with the vacant post as Coach of the Russia national team.

The Mirror adds that Mancini’s new pay packet puts his yearly earnings slightly over Wenger’s £7.1m per year and over £1m a year more than his near neighbour Ferguson, who takes home £6.3m. Andre Villas-Boas’ new job at Tottenham Hotspur pays slightly over £5m per year while Everton’s David Moyes is the top flight’s fifth-highest earner, receiving £3.5m a year for his work at Goodison Park.
