Man Utd close in on Sao Paulo midfielder

Lucas Moura could be on the verge of a big money move to Manchester United as talks between Sao Paulo and the Premier League side stepped up.

According to the Daily Mail United’s chief scout, Jim Lawlor, is in Brazil to set up a deal for the 19-year-old midfielder with the club secretary, John Alexander also ready to finalise negotiations.

Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be keen on completing the deal before the Olympics starts in a weeks time so the Old Trafford transfer team are working hard to seal the transfer as soon as possible.

Sao Paulo have already rejected a £32.4 million bid from Chelsea as well as £20 million from Inter Milan. But the Red Devils are hoping they can find a fee somewhere in the middle of both of those bids.

Lucas tends to play in an advanced midfielder role and is considered to be a huge star for the future. Since debuting for Sao Paulo in 2010 he has gone on to play 104 games and scored 26 goals. He won his first Brazil cap in 2011 and has since played 11 games scoring his only goal in a game against rivals Argentina.
