Man Utd could make further signings

Midfielders Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell might not be the last new faces to arrive at Manchester United this summer after Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the club could make further signings, the Evening Standard has reported.

Kagawa and Powell have already joined from Borussia Dortmund and Crewe Alexandra respectively, with Kagawa, a Japan international, receiving a work permit to complete his move a few weeks ago. But Ferguson has admitted he is still in the market for additions as he attempts to wrest the Premier League title back from the clutches of Manchester City.

Ferguson said however that while a couple more new signings was a possibility, he did not expect there to be any announcements in the near future. He added: “We’re working on one or two things but there’s nothing really to tell you to be honest. When you don’t get deals done immediately and you’re negotiating with a club over a long period, then you can’t expect to just snap your fingers and get it done.

Kagawa arrives at Old Trafford after two years in the Bundesliga with Dortmund, during which time the 23-year-old won consecutive titles as well as the German Cup last season, scoring 29 goals in his 71 appearances. Powell moves to United after helping Crewe to promotion to League 1 via the play-offs after scoring a spectacular goal in the final at Wembley.
