Man Utd likely to miss out on Brazil’s Ganso

Manchester United look set to miss out on the signature of Brazil midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso after the player’s agent confirmed he would be leaving Santos but only for another Brazilian club, ESPN has reported.

United have been joined in their pursuit of Ganso by European teams such as Serie A side Milan and after a dispute with his current club, Ganso is expected to be on the move. But Delcir Sonda, Ganso’s representative, revealed the midfielder is keen to remain in Brazil for another year but not with Santos.

Sonda said: “This is definitive, Ganso won’t play for Santos anymore. And yes, he may join Internacional. He wants to leave but stay in Brazil for at least another year.” Sonda added that his client was unhappy Santos had focused their attention on Neymar, the young international forward, at the expense of Ganso.

ESPN suggests the reason Ganso wants to remain in Brazil despite his desire to escape Santos is to safeguard his place in the Brazil squad for the 2014 World Cup, to be played on home soil. Ganso has eight international caps to his name but was not part of the squad to play Denmark, the United States, Mexico and Argentina this summer.
