Oscar plays down Tottenham talk

Andre Villas-Boas has been dealt his first blow in the Tottenham job after Brazilian midfielder Oscar rejected a move to the North London side.

Reported by the Metro, the 20-year-old has opted against a move to the Premier League after Spurs made contact last week. Speaking about the move the Internacional playmaker said:

“Tottenham did contact my agent but I am focusing on Internacional. That will always happen. I don’t know if there was official offer. But for those that are young and impress a bit this is normal. I can’t worry about this. I’m not thinking about leaving Internacional now.”

Oscar has attracted a lot of interest from Europe’s elite but only Tottenham were thought to be making contact after their new boss, Villas-Boas, made the youngster top of his transfer list.

Spurs have already been busy in this summer’s transfer window, they secured a deal for in demand midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson this week as well as their long standing transfer for Jan Vertonghen of Ajax seemingly nearing completion after the player resolved contract disputes with his club.

Oscar, already a senior squad player for Brazil, will feature in London this year after he was selected for the Brazilian Olympic 2012 squad this week.
