Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas has criticised Luka Modric for his failure to show up for a flight to the United States after the Croatia midfielder arrived at the club’s training ground to train alone, the
Spurs were due to fly out for a series of friendlies across the Atlantic Ocean but Modric never turned up to make the journey, with the club admitting they did not know where the 26-year-old was. It was later claimed he had returned to Croatia to think over his next move as he attempts to force his way out of White Hart Lane and to Real Madrid.
Modric has since returned to England. The Telegraph adds that Villas-Boas must now decide whether to leave the player training alone at the Spurs training ground or force him to fly to the United States to take part in the club’s pre-season tour. Modric has already been told he will be heavily fined for his actions.
Villas-Boas said: “He’s had a lot of interest in him before but he has behaved very professionally, this is the first time he has acted like this. We don’t know what sort of advice he is receiving…as far as I know he is back in London.”
