Joao Moutinho looks set to join Andre Villas-Boas at Tottenham Hotspur after the club pulled out of a move for Brazil international Oscar, the
Spurs claim they told Oscar’s current club Internacional three days ago that they were no longer interested in the midfielder, instead preferring to focus on concluding a deal with Porto to bring Moutinho to the Premier League. Oscar is now expected to move to Villas-Boas’ former club Chelsea.
The purchase of Moutinho, for a fee the Mirror puts at £22m, will be financed by the sale of Luka Modric to Real Madrid. Spurs have also made it clear they will not sell Modric to another Premier League team, ending the hopes of Chelsea and Manchester United of snatching the playmaker.
