Tottenham rival Chelsea for Porto forward Hulk

New Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas could be set to return to one of his former clubs for his latest summer signing, as Porto forward Hulk is linked with a move to White Hart Lane. The Daily Mail reports that the Brazil international had seemed bound for a move to Chelsea but Spurs are now firmly in the mix.

Hulk is in England as part of Brazil’s squad for the upcoming Olympic Games. Villas-Boas is said to be keen on bringing Hulk to Tottenham as a sign of the club’s intentions to compete at the highest level. Spurs hope that the Villas-Boas factor can lure Hulk to the club and in the process convince Porto to lower their asking price, which is thought to currently stand around the £38m mark.

Tottenham are also currently negotiating with Manchester City for their striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who spent last season on loan at Spurs, which may be a factor in any move for Hulk. Hulk would command wages of around £100,000 per week, a figure that may threaten the Adebayor deal which has stalled as the club and player discuss finances.
