Tottenham to make offer for Chelsea forward Sturridge

Tottenham Hotspur will offer Chelsea £10m for Daniel Sturridge, the Daily Mail has reported, in an attempt to re-unite the England forward with Andre Villas-Boas, the former Blues manager who is expected to be named the new Spurs boss shortly.

Sturridge is said to be unhappy with his role at Stamford Bridge, having fallen down the pecking order under new full-time manager Roberto di Matteo. Chelsea have this summer signed Eden Hazard from Lille and Germany international Marko Marin, leaving Sturridge facing increased competition to hold on to his place in di Matteo’s XI.

Di Matteo is understand to want to keep Sturridge at Chelsea but if the 22-year-old insists upon leaving, the Italian will not hold the former Manchester City striker at the club against his will, nor will he hold Tottenham to ransom.

Sturridge moved to Chelsea from City in 2009 and has scored 22 goals in 84 appearances, including 13 in 43 games last season.
