Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Real Valladolid goalkeeper Jaime according to the player himself, reports Sky
The 31-year-old was an integral part of Valladolid’s promotion to La Liga this summer, as they secured their top flight status via the Segunda division play-offs, and it seems his key contribution hasn’t gone unnoticed as the player confirmed Spurs and other clubs are interested in signing him.
Speaking to Sky Sports Jaime said: “That is true. Spurs and other clubs are interested; the situation is in the hands of my agent and Valladolid. I am happy here but it is normal to desire to improve as a professional.”
Despite the confirmation from the player regarding interested, the clubs sporting director Alberto Marcos played down rumours of formal bids being made for the player: “We still do not have a formal proposition on the table.”
Jaime was a summer signing last season from Spanish club Elche, where he had made just 31 appearances in a three-year-spell, though his journeyman career has seen him with 11 clubs all within the Spanish league system.
Tottenham’s reported interest comes at a time when the North London club were linked with French goalkeeper Hugo Loris, but it seems a goalkeeper is definitely a target, a move that could give Brad Friedel competition for the number one spot.
