Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie will be forced to participate in the North London clubs pre-season tour around Asia, according to Daily
The Dutch forward last week confirmed he would not be extending his stay at Arsenal past next year when his contract runs out, and this has led to speculation that Van Persie will force a transfer – clubs such as Juventus and Manchester City have all been linked with a move in recent days.
However it seems Arsene Wenger is not backing down and according to the report he will include the 28-year-old in his squad for Arsenal’s pre-season games in Malaysia, China and Hong-Kong – where he will face Manchester City in a friendly.
“Arsene did it with Samir Nasri last season on the Asia tour before he joined City and he has every right to do it again this time around with Robin,” an Emirates source told the newspaper.
Wenger has stood firm with want-away players in the past such as Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas though former Gunner Ray Parlour insisted that the club should sell Van Persie now or risk losing him for nothing next season saying: “Arsenal need to sell Robin to the highest bidder and if they can get £15million for him, give it to Arsene who can buy someone else”.
Van Persie netted 37 goals last season which won him the PFA player of the year award, though a reported disagreement between the club and the player on Arsenal’s future has seen the Dutch-man refuse to commit his future.
