Wigan warn Chelsea and Tottenham over Moses fee

Wigan Athletic have told potential suitors of Victor Moses, including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, that it will take £12m to sign the Nigeria forward, the Daily Mail has reported.

Chelsea have already had one offer for Moses, believed to be in the region of £4m, rejected, while Liverpool have also been strongly linked with a bid for the 21-year-old. Moses’ Wigan contract expires next summer and while Latics manager Roberto Martinez wants to see Moses stay at the club, the player has confirmed he would prefer to move on before the end of his current deal.

Part of the reason Wigan owner Dave Whelan is taking a tough stance and demanding a large sum that is Moses’ former club, Crystal Palace, are entitled to 20% of the transfer fee. The Mail adds that Whelan believes Moses’ age makes him more valuable than Charles N’Zogbia, the French winger who was sold by Wigan to Aston Villa last summer for more than £9m.
