Arsenal have completed their third summer signing with the arrival of Santi Cazorla today. Reported by Sky
Arsene Wenger has confirmed the deal on the club’s official website and has spoken about the 27-year-old. He said: “He is a player with good experience at both club and international level, who will add significant quality to our squad. He is a versatile, attacking midfield player who can play comfortably on either side of the pitch or centrally. He has good pace, is technically gifted and will be a huge asset to Arsenal Football Club. We are delighted that he is joining us.
Cazorla arrives after just one season with Malaga, where he contributed nine goals in 34 La Liga games. Prior to that he had spent the rest of his career in the Villarreal set up, with one season away at Recreativo in 2006-07. On his move to the Premier League the Spanish international said: “The club has one of the best managers in football and their style of play is recognized and admired all over the world.
“I’m so excited to be joining one of the greatest teams in Europe and also in the Premier League. I will do my best to help Arsenal challenge for trophies and make all the supporters happy.”
He is just one of a number of players to be jumping ship at Malaga with the club in turmoil after their owner decided to step away from them after just two seasons in charge, putting them in a financially difficult situation.
