Arsenal complete Sahin loan deal

Arsenal have wrapped up the loan signing of Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin, the Daily Mail has reported, after the two clubs came to an agreement over the existence of a buyout clause in the deal.

The Gunners were said to be keen on a stipulation that allowed them to sign Sahin permanently in 12 months’ time if the loan move was a success. Madrid however wanted that sum to be fixed at £14m in the contract that took Sahin to the Emirates Stadium, a figure Arsenal are said by the Mail to have initially baulked at. The newspaper does not reveal what the exact terms of the contract are, but claims there was a compromise reached.

Arsenal were said to have been so confident the Sahin transfer was to be completed by Monday that they had arranged a photo shoot with the Turkey international that had to be hastily cancelled when the issue of a buyout clause came up.
