Arsenal keen on Bendtner swap for Milan’s Mexes

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be keen to swap his unwanted centre-forward Nicklas Bendtner for France international defender Philippe Mexes, currently with Milan, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Mexes is said to have fallen out with the hierarchy at the Italian club after leaving Milan’s pre-season tour of the United States to spend time with his pregnant wife. The 30-year-old has been training alone with reports in Italy suggesting the row is the reason Milan are entertaining letting Mexes leave this summer.

The Coach of the France national team, Didier Deschamps, has meanwhile suggested Mexes’ future lies away from Milan, fuelling speculation the centre-back is Arsenal bound.

Bendtner is thought to be on Milan’s radar as they seek a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker has left for Paris Saint-Germain while Wenger is willing to let Bendtner go on a permanent basis following his loan spell at Sunderland last season.
