Arsenal target Niang in Milan talks

Arsenal could miss out on the signing of Caen teenager M’Baye Niang after the striker travelled to Italy to speak with Milan, the Daily Mirror has reported.

It had appeared that Arsene Wenger was close to bringing the 17-year-old to the Emirates Stadium after Niang underwent a trial with the club earlier this summer, but talks between the Gunners and Niang’s current employers Caen have not gone well. The recently relegated French side are said to be unhappy at the structure of the deal on offer from Arsenal, who were pushing for a staggered fee of £5m.

Despite Niang thought to favour a move to the Premier League in general and Arsenal in particular Caen are now understood to prefer he move to Milan. Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Manchester City and Tottenham are also in the picture, but the Serie A outfit are said to be in the driving seat for Niang’s signature.
