Barcelona considering offer for Arsenal midfielder Song

Barcelona will decide in the next few days whether or not to make an approach to Arsenal for their midfielder Alex Song, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Arsenal are said to be already aware that Barcelona are considering an offer for Song but do not want to sell the Cameroon midfielder. Song, 24, has a contract until 2015 with Arsenal and so Arsene Wenger is not thought to be interested in selling the player, particularly not as Barcelona have put a ceiling of £15m on what they are willing to pay, substantially below the amount Wenger would ask for if he was minded to sell.

Song is thought to be attracting interest from a number of European clubs and the Mirror adds that part of the reason Wenger is chasing Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin is as an insurance policy should Song be unexpectedly prised away from the Emirates Stadium.
