The Guardian adds that if Chelsea were successful in their pursuit of Schurrle the likely fee would take their summer spending beyond the £100m mark. Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falco and Hulk have all been the subject of offers from Chelsea but their respective clubs have not consented to a sale, taking a stance similar to Leverkusen’s, but Chelsea are still preparing another bid for Schurrle. They first offered £16m for the 21-year-old, who fits the brief of signing young players. Schurrle can also operate on the wing but can move more centrally if needed.
