Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles is an £8m target for Serie A side Napoli, the
Meireles only moved to Stamford Bridge a year ago, leaving Liverpool on transfer deadline day just 12 months after he came to Anfield from Porto, taking the chance to link up with former Porto Coach Andre Villas-Boas. Villas-Boas was later sacked in March and his since replaced Harry Redknapp at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 29-year-old last season made 45 appearances for the Champions League winners, scoring six goals in the process. Meireles was a 75th minute substitute for Ramires in the FA Cup final victory over his former club, while he missed out altogether on the Champions League final win over Bayern Munich after picking up a suspension in the prior rounds.
A Portugal international with more than 60 caps to his name, Meireles made his debut for his country in 2006 and has gone on to feature at a number of tournaments, including this summer’s Euro 2012 competition.
