Chelsea new boy Hazard not worried by Premier League style

Eden Hazard is looking forward to the physical battles that the Premier League is famous for. Reported by the Daily Mirror, the Chelsea new boy has been speaking after the heated Community Shield clash with Manchester City in which he found out just how hard the tackles can come in.

He said: “I wasn’t surprised at how physical it was, even in a friendly. It was very fast and I believe it’s a perfect style of play for my qualities. I’m here to play these very intense games.

In France it could be intense for 10 or so minutes but the match can be very quiet during the next quarter of an hour or so. Here it’s full on maximum effort all the time.

The physical nature of the English leagues has often been a reason for stars to leave the top clubs, seeking instead a game where they have more protection from the referee. But this anticipation of the Premier League style from Hazard will no doubt please Chelsea fans.

The Community Shield was in-effect the debut of the 21-year-old on English soil and despite giving a strong team performance he feels he can do more. Hazard continued: “I had to defend a lot in the second half and it was very hard physically, but I was pleased with my performance. I can do better, of course, and adjust more with the team.

But I’m confident. I have settled very well. I have a house now near Chelsea training ground and I enjoy my new life. My team-mates are very cool, great players and nice men.

Hazard will make his official debut on Sunday when Chelsea travel to Wigan for their opening fixture. His first home game will be against Reading on the following Wednesday.
