Alvaro Pereira looks set to join Napoli this week despite reports linking him with a move to Chelsea. According to the Metro, the Italian side will initially loan the full-back for a fee of £780,000 with an option to buy the player for £7m included in the deal.
The Champions League winners were thought to be keen on signing Pereira as they continue their spending in the transfer market. The Blues initially made a bid last summer for the 26-year-old but were quoted a fee of £30m, which they refused to pay. But now Porto are keen to sell after the player had a bust up with a teammate leaving tensions high within the squad.
The Uruguayan was considered to be a target for Roberto Di Matteo while the new Chelsea boss continues his search to fill the gap at right-back. Reports suggest Lille want £10m for top Di Matteo’s top target Cesar Azpilicueta.
