Roberto Di Matteo has been speaking about the wide variety of talent at his disposal ahead of Chelsea’s first home fixture of the new Premier League season. Reported by the Guardian,
With an emphasis on Eden Hazard, Oscar and Juan Mata, the Italian said: “Good players can always play together. That’s what I’ve always believed, but we’ll need time to work together and get to know each other a bit better. The team setup for this game is something I need to think about.”
On the topic of Hazard Di Matteo added: “It was great to see him enjoying himself and getting his teeth into the Premier League. You’re never quite sure how new players will adapt. It’s still quite a big change from France to England…It’s a big change coming to England from anywhere, and it will take him a bit of time to get used to the physicality and tempo of the division, but it was a good start.”
For Wednesday, however, the Champions League winners can call on the returning Ramires. The midfielder missed the season’s opener due to illness at the weekend. Marko Marin will still have to wait for his Premier League debut, as the German winger is still recovering from a hamstring problem.
For Chelsea the game means more than just three points – it is the perfect opportunity to take an early lead at the head of the table, something the club have not done for nearly two years.
